Door Closers from Devon

The extensive range of door closers from M/s Devon Architectural Hardware Ltd caters to various door types and sizes, making it a versatile choice for different applications. Whether the requirement is for a door closer for a residential space, commercial building, or industrial facility, Devon has a suitable door closer to offer !

The selection of Devon architectural door closers not only offers superior quality, design and finish but these closers are also CE marked & UL listed, thus approved and tested to the highest standards in the industry. Devon has a door control and closer for any application, from the simple mechanical NFR door closer having basic functionality to electro-mechanical hold open closers for special applications where doors are required to satisfy part M of the building regulations.

Devon’s hydraulic door closers have successfully tested to the requirement of BS EN 1154 including fire doors up to 240 minutes.

Devon offers a selection of a complete suited product range, from basic EN size 2-4 & 2-5 to size selectable 3-6 or 1-6 with adjustable backcheck and delayed action. The construction of the body of the door closer is from extruded aluminum which is ideally suited for bore roundness for the piston to operate for high efficiency and long working life.

Devon’s approach to door control systems ensures that there is a solution for all the needs and requirements of building projects , with reference to door applications and budgets. A majority of Devon door closers are CE marked. All Devon door closers being ‘controlled door closing devices’ are covered by a harmonized European standard EN1154. This standard provides detail of the product type by use, test cycles, door mass, corrosion resistance and product performance requirements using a 6 digit classification code. Included in the Devon range of concealed as well as surface mounted door controls are door closers with rack & pinion and cam action technology .

Devon also offers electronically controlled hold open devices (Concealed cam action and Surface mounted door closers) which conform to EN1155 and can be used on fire and smoke proof doors.

AVAILABLE FUNCTIONS IN DEVON’S RANGE OF DOOR CLOSERS

Made from high-quality materials, Devon’s range of door controls is built to withstand the test of time. They are resistant to corrosion, ensuring that they maintain their performance even in challenging environments

LATCHING

The latching speed of a door closer ranges from last few degrees i.e.10° to 0° on complete door closing.
Apart from the obvious need to close the door, it is important that speed closing should ensure on the one hand that the door does not slam, and on the other, that is closes positively.
The latching action accelerates closure through the last few degrees to overcome the resistance of a latch or seal.

CONTROLLED CLOSING

Hydraulic control is accepted as the best means of controlling the closing speed of a mechanically operated door closer.
The closing speed is controlled by regulating the return flow of oil with a control screw or similar device.
A typical closing speed would be 5-7 seconds from 90° opening.

DELAYED CLOSING

The delayed closing function allows the door leaf to remain open, for an adjustable period of time, before closing. It is used on doors frequently used by the elderly or handicapped or where trolleys and bulky goods are constantly being moved through a doorway.
This function operates from 180° down to 70°.
Typically delay periods of 20 seconds may be achieved between 90°- 70°

BACK-CHECK

The purpose of the back-check function in a door closer is to prevent the door leaf from being thrown, kicked or, in case of external doors, blown wide open in such a manner that it damages the door leaf, door frame or adjoining walls and furniture.
Effective control is achieved by incorporating a hydraulic buffer within the mechanism of the door closer.
The backcheck can be set to operate at a variable angle or variable.

MECHANICAL HOLD OPEN

This device allows the door to remain open at a predetermined angle, usually 90°, with the same effect as a wedge under the door. It is normally achieved by incorporating a roller and cam mechanism into the arm set.
However, since this can be released only by hand, therefore mechanical hold open function should not be used on fire-resistant doors, because the door will remain open, in the event of fire.

ELECTRO-MECHANICAL HOLD OPEN

This Electromagnetic Hold-Open device allows for barrier-free access on single and double leaf fire doors.
Doors will be held open under normal circumstances to ensure the free flow of traffic, yet close securely in case of a fire or power failure.
This device allows the door to remain open at a predetermined angle, usually 90°.
